Fundraising for housing construction for families in need in Southern Colombia
What is this project about:
On behalf of our dear friend Florentino Agreda, a natural medicine doctor and spiritual guide from indigenous Colombia, we would like to ask for your heartfelt support for an extremely important initiative aimed at building homes for several indigenous families in Latin America. Taita Florentino presented the living conditions of some families and asked whether we could join forces to raise the funds necessary to build simple houses for the families in need, so they can live with dignity. Many families in this region struggle with extreme poverty. The indigenous communities in this area are a treasure trove of unique languages, rituals, and traditions, which are threatened by social changes and globalization. By contributing, you can make the world a fairer and more compassionate place. Every, even the smallest, donation can help make this important goal a reality.
Cost: 50 000 PLN
About the OneRiver Foundation
When we first encountered the indigenous people of the Amazon, we were struck by the incredible richness of their ethnic cultures, which differ profoundly from our own way of life. The wisdom of their ancestors and their close connection to Mother Nature are evident at every step, revealing a world we have almost forgotten in contemporary "Western" civilization.
And yet, seeing firsthand how ancient traditions guide modern indigenous peoples towards a deeper self-discovery, we recognize a value that helps us reflect on our own roots and consciousness. This value is preserved and nurtured through a deep respect for our origins and everything that surrounds us.
However, the contemporary world presents challenges that are not always easy to face, relying solely on the resources at hand. Traveling to the sources of indigenous cultures, we encounter the problems faced by local communities. There are situations where it is necessary to meet these challenges head-on, and financial support becomes one of the key means to achieve this.
The OneRiver Foundation is a charitable project that supports indigenous villagers in Colombia and Venezuela, caring for their needs that go beyond their current ability to self-finance.
How we help?
We are in regular contact with our indigenous friends, whom we met while traveling through the Amazon rainforest and the Andean highlands. We often hear about the difficulties they face in their daily lives and the needs that cannot be met without significant financial support. To date, we have carried out the following initiatives:
2019: Fundraising for the purchase of 3 km of pipeline for a family in the Wiwa community living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Santa Marta, Colombia. Thanks to this charitable initiative, the indigenous people are able to grow organic cacao and non-genetically modified corn. The project also helps distribute organic seeds for many permaculture farms in Colombia. The cost of purchasing the pipeline was 7,000 PLN.
2020: Fundraising for eye surgery for Grandmother Elena, the main representative of the elders from the Piaroa community and one of the most powerful healers in the Venezuelan Amazon. Grandmother Elena lost her sight due to cataracts. We raised over 10,000 PLN for her surgical intervention.2017-
2021: Fundraising for the purchase of household items, tools, mechanical equipment, daily-use products, an outboard motor for a boat, generators, clothing, school supplies, and medicine for the Bora, Barasano, Tikuna, Piaroa, and Yanomami communities, amounting to over 30,000 PLN in total.
In addition to organized fundraising campaigns, the OneRiver Foundation is also supported by purchases made in the OneRiver store, where 2% of the store's revenue is directed to the foundation to support its current goals.
